Gemini - I THINK
Helloooo, hiiiii, ola! Happy Birthday to my dear Gems! The Sun has moved into Gemini on May 21st and this signifies the beginning of Gemini Season, which will last for the next 4ish weeks. When the Sun is traveling through the sign of Gemini, we might be feeling more social, chatty, curious and flirty. Gemini is the sign of the twins, representing duality as well as variety.
Gemini is the first Air sign, element of the mind, communication, writing, thinking & ideas. It is also of a mutable quality, meaning it is flexible & open-minded. Mutable sign season is always at the end of each season of the year (Spring-Gemini, Summer-Virgo, Autumn-Libra and Winter-Pisces) and they represent the changeability & adaptability, preparing us for the upcoming change of the seasons. Gemini is one of the most charming signs in the Zodiac, they are connected to youthfulness and childlike energy.
Gemini Sun, Mercury, Venus or Rising are my favorite placements to text with. They are witty, quirky & funny, until they sometimes ghost and do not respond for months due to the amount of messages they receive! But they always come back, with their humor and lightness.
I would like to bring up the “reputation” Gemini has, and to add something (more like to stir the pot up, my own moon is in Gemini hehe) to provide a different approach to the view of Gemini personality. Over the years I have witnessed waaay too many people roll their eyes when the sign Gemini is mentioned or when they talk about a person who is born a Gemini. They often say how they are two-faced, unreliable, flighty & hard to pin down. I understand that this is a lower vibrational expression of this sign, and I am sure that we’ve all had some experiences with people like this generally, so it doesn't have to be only Gemini Suns that are this way.

But I also noticed a pattern of WHO is most annoyed by Gemini people. Most of the time it is the group of sensitive Water signs, who in some way admired Gemini’s freedom & lightness, possibly romanticized it and created high expectations which shortly after brought disappointment when the social butterfly Gemini decided to move on and continue smelling other flowers. Gemini is an intellectual sign, that thrives on learning, having fun and flying like a butterfly. As humans, we all have emotions, but Gemini is more about thinking and communicating their emotions and they have a more difficult time feeling them.
Disclaimer: I am playfully generalizing the sun signs and creating funny astro drama. This is to be taken lightly. Sun signs are just a small part of our personality expressions and we can learn much deeper about ourselves and others when looking at the whole astrological chart. Many of us can surprisingly have Gemini energy within us, expressed in infinite different ways.
Mercury
Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and it is the planet of communication, connection, awareness, siblings, short trips, learning, everything made with hands, driving & traffic, newspaper, books, letters, etc…
Mercury rules both Gemini & Virgo. The difference is that Gemini is an Air sign and Virgo is Earth. This allows Mercury to express differently through either an airy or an earthy lens.

Greek Mythology
The energy of the planet Mercury is equivalent to the Greek deity Hermes. A trickster and a divine messenger of the Gods, who was connecting the immortal world with the mortal world, as well as the underworld. He was neither “good” or “bad”, but he used his intelligence to playfully tickle the minds of others, as well as deliver the most important messages from one destination to another. He had a witty mind and was very athletic, making him a fast runner and a perfect messenger. Remember those shoes with angel wings of his? I always wanted a pair of those.
Third house
Connected to the themes of Mercury, the third house represents our rational mind, way of thinking, speaking & communicating. It shows us what we think and communicate about. It also reveals what our siblings are like, as well as our early education. It is the house of neighbors, nearby environments, short trips & vehicles.
I’ve met some interesting intellectuals with a strong third house activity, who are able to talk about anything, are great writers and communicators, and are curious enough to continue asking questions and keep learning more and more. I could talk for hours with them! Depending on which sign is on the cusp of the third house, we can discover what the individual's interests are.
Astro-Herbalism
Since the energy of the month is focused on the mind & communication, I figured to find a plant that is helpful for clearing the mind and helping us focus. And a plant that is good for the nervous system, ‘cause HELLOOO Geminiii energy and Anxiety??!! They do go hand in hand sometimes.
To completely embody the Gemini energy in this post, I will provide multiple medicinal plants that help us with the nervous system, the mind & thinking, which you can choose from depending on what you have in your garden or local market.
Gotu Kola - centella asiatica
According to Sajah Popham’s Astro-Herbalism Course, Gotu Kola is a primary ayurvedic remedy for the mind and brain. It facilitates concentration, perception, focus, short term memory, and helps the mind sharpen. It helps with alertness and focus but at the same time keeps our mind and body calm.
Ginkgo biloba
In Chinese medicine, the Ginkgo tree and its leaves have been worshiped for thousands of years. It is the oldest tree in the world, spanning 200 million years of existence, receiving the nickname “living fossil”. Ginkgo has many spiritual meanings and represents ancient wisdom, love, resilience, timelessness, magic.. According to the Red Ayuda Integral website, “Ginkgo is a symbol of primordial life force. A tree with enormous power. It survives atomic explosions, helps against MS, cardiovascular diseases, dementia and the aggravation of diabetes and Alzheimer’s. The tree can live for thousands of years.” Because Ginkgo is so good for the blood flow, especially into the brain, and it helps with memory, concentration and mental performance in general, this plant is strongly connected to the Gemini archetype.
Marjoram - origanum majorana

Marjoram is currently my favorite plant that I smell, snack on and make tea with almost daily. It was fun to research and learn about its healing benefits. According to Indigo Herbs “Marjoram is classed as a “nervine”, a herb that strengthens the nervous system and helps to combat anxiety and stress. Marjoram has an extremely calming effect on the body and can actually promote feelings of happiness – this is why it is a great herb to use for grief, shock and PTSD.” Because of its sweet and citrus flavors, it always brings me joy whenever I consume this plant.
I hope you all enjoyed reading this month’s blog post and learned something new as a real Gemini would. See you next month in the Cancer season!
