For some reason I’ve been taking my sweet time in writing this month’s blog post. Capricorn Season. Well it has been slightly difficult to tap into the energy of Capricorn with all the Christmas and New Years celebrations joy going around. The only thing Christmas and Capricorn have in common is Cap-italism. Even the archetype of Santa Claus doesn’t fully embody the energy of the cold grandpa Saturn. But it is close. Saturn rewards us when we are learning our lessons and taking responsibility for ourselves and gives us coal when we aren’t. So far, most of the holidays have aligned to the astrological energies as we flowed through the year. But this time, the energy is a bit different…
After an expansive, philosophical and joyful Sagittarius season, Capricorn is here to allow us to go inward again with its contractive energy. It is a sign ruled by Saturn, the planet of responsibility, boundaries and the most serious planet in Astrology. Capricorn is stingy, modest, doesn’t indulge, and is one of the most hard working signs out there. During this time, our productivity, focus and accomplishments in our careers would be the highest if there was no holiday season, vacations, and partying as a collective. (Btw we are SO powerful as a collective). Also Capricorn is the sign of building structures, whether it is physical building or social structures. By being almost the complete opposite during Christmas, and to add the celebration of New Year- we celebrate and strengthen the capitalist way of living and consuming, and miss out opportunities to actually grow something of our own. Capricorn is opposite from the family oriented sign Cancer and represents life beyond our family life and home.
Saturn
Saturn, oh Saturn. Known as the Great Malefic in Traditional Astrology and misunderstood by many as the bad guy that only brings hard times. Even though he does bring challenges and heaviness, Saturn has an important role in our lives and in the universe. Saturn brings structure, builds foundations, creates boundaries and with all that comes security. He is the father of time, which means he rules aging, as well as reality. There are no rose colored glasses and overly optimistic attitudes when Saturn is involved, he comes to show us what is real and true. Most of the time this can be harsh for people to experience and this is why Saturn is associated with struggle and pessimism. Saturn is also the planet of karma and fate. When we are able to be in harmony with the lessons Saturn is teaching us, we have the opportunity to master patience, resilience, discipline and wisdom. Saturn is the furthest planet that is visible to the eye, being the representation of the limits of the materialistic world up to everything that we can see with our bare eyes. Saturn is the least “spiritual” planet, requiring proof and experience in order to believe in the existence of something that is not visible. Saturn rules longevity, conservatism, the past and all traditions that come with it, as well as hierarchy and order.
In the body, Saturn rules the main structure that holds all of our organs together and gives shape to the body, the skeleton. It also rules the teeth.
Capricorn - I ACHIEVE
Ruled by Saturn, Capricorn is the third earth sign of the Zodiac. The way Capricorn expresses the earth element is by being resourceful and structured. It embodies earth with a cardinal quality, which makes Capricorn a grounded and ambitious leader. By being opposite from the emotional Cancer, Capricorn isn't primarily an emotional sign, which is why they’re sometimes perceived as cold and serious. The animal that corresponds to Capricorn is the goat, and after interacting with goats recently I’ve witnessed their way of standing firmly on the ground as well as their hard headedness and determination, which confirms the connection to the sign of Capricorn. Sometimes a challenge for a Capricorn is that they feel as if whatever they do, they are not doing or achieving enough, and could always do and be better. Capricorn is known as the sign that can be critical and hard on themselves, even though they are probably accomplishing more than any of other signs are. So this is a gentle reminder for my Caps out there to be gentle on themselves and others. You are doing fantastic!
The 10th house
This is the final angular house that is being covered in the series, and it is of great importance. We have already learned about the personal angular house, the 1st house that represents the individual, and across from it is the 7th house which represents the other aka the partner of the individual. On the bottom of the chart is the 4th house which represents our home, early childhood and our deepest self, and across from it, today I am writing about the 10th house, which is located on top of the chart! The 10th house by being on top of the charts represents exactly that, who are we going to be at the highest peak of our lives. The 10th house is the house of career, karma and purpose representing the potential of what we are going to bring into this world and what is our role in the public world. Most successful and famous people have strong 10th house placements in their chart. The 10th house is the house of status, reputation and profession.
